  • The aim of this article is to elaborate on contemporary Turkish articles on natural disaster and grief. Although traumatic experiences have been a part of Turkish culture for hundreds of years, studies on psychological trauma are only a recent development in Turkey. The first Turkish article describing posttraumatic symptoms by Osman (1916) was followed by a lengthy period of silence on the topic of psycho trauma until 1970s.
