Abstract: Fatty alcohols are important industrial oleochemicals with broad applications and a growing market. Here, we sought to engineer Yarrowia lipolytica to serve as a renewable source of fatty alcohols (specifically hexadecanol, heptadecanol, octadecanol, and oleyl alcohol) directly from glucose.
