A direct-injection liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) method was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantitation in human plasma of the widely used cholesterol-lowering prodrug simvastatin and its in vivo generated active drug, simvastatin acid.
