We analyze the Coulomb breakup cross sections of {sup 11}Li and {sup 6}He nuclei using a three-body model with a density-dependent contact interaction. We show that the concentration of the B(E1) strength near the threshold can be well reproduced with this model. With the help of the calculated B(E1) value, we extract the root-mean-square (rms) distance between the core nucleus and the center-of-mass of two valence neutrons without resorting to the sum rule, which may suffer from unphysical…

Three-body correlation in nLi studied via low-lying E1 excitation
- Physics
- 2008
We have studied the structure of the Borromean nucleus 11Li via the Coulomb breakup with a Pb target at 70 MeV/nucleon. Momentum vectors of the breakup particles, Li and two neutrons, were measured…
Weakly bound Borromean structures of the exotic 6,8He nuclei through direct reactions on proton
- Chemistry
- 2015
The data set of the direct reactions induced by the radioactive nuclei 6, 8He can be used as benchmarks to test the validity of the microscopic structure theories. The reactions were analyzed and…
Four-body calculation of 6He breakup with the Coulomb-corrected eikonal method
- Physics
- 2009
The elastic breakup of a three-body projectile on a target is studied within the eikonal approximation with full account of final-state interactions. Bound and scattering states are calculated in…
Two-particle correlations in continuum dipole transitions in Borromean nuclei
- Physics
- 2009
We use a three-body model to discuss the role of dineutron correlation in the ground state and the dipole excitations of typical weakly-bound Borromean nuclei, 11Li and 6He. We first show that the…
Two-neutron halo nuclei in one dimension: dineutron correlation and breakup reaction
- Physics
- 2011
We propose a simple schematic model for two-neutron halo nuclei. In this model, the two valence neutrons move in a one-dimensional mean field, interacting with each other via a density-dependent…
Theoretical models for exotic nuclei
- Physics
- 2015
We review various theoretical models which have been used to study the properties of the ground state and excited states of nuclei close to and beyond the neutron and proton drip lines. The validity…
Surface Localization of the Dineutron in ^{11}Li.
- PhysicsPhysical review letters
- 2020
The formation of a dineutron in the ^{11}Li nucleus is found to be localized to the surface region, and the correlation angle between the two neutrons is, for the first time, measured as a function of the intrinsic neutron momentum.
Determination of a dineutron correlation in Borromean nuclei via a quasi-free knockout (p,pn) reaction
- Physics
- 2016
To discuss the dineutron correlation in the ground state, the quasi-free neutron knockout reaction on $^6$He is investigated. In the present work, the momentum distribution of the two emitted neutrons…
