This study was designed to investigate whether diphlorethohydroxycarmalol (DPHC) may inhibit alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase activities, and alleviate postprandial hyperglycemia in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. DPHC isolated from Ishige okamurae, a brown algae, evidenced prominent inhibitory effect against alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase.
