Abstract

The effects of diltiazem on fatty acid metabolism were measured in the isolated perfused rat liver and in isolated mitochondria. In the perfused rat liver diltiazem inhibited oxygen uptake and ketogenesis from endogenous substrates. Ketogenesis from exogenously supplied palmitate was also inhibited.
