Abstract. It is well known that the space-time coordinates $x^\mu$ and the corresponding Dp-brane world-volume become non-commutative when the ends of the open string are attached to a Dp-brane with the Neveu-Schwarz background field $B_{\mu \nu}$. In this paper, we extend these considerations by including an additional dilaton field $\Phi$, linear in $x^\mu$. In that case, the conformal part of the world-sheet metric becomes a new non-commutative variable, while the coordinate in the direction…

String theory

Abstract For each n > 0, two alternative axiomatizations of the theory of strings over n alphabetic characters are presented. One class of axiomatizations derives from Tarski's system of the

String theory.

TLDR
The current “standard model” of particle physics—which is nearly 25 years old, has much experimental evidence in its favor and is comprised of six quarks, six leptons, four forces, and the as yet unobserved Higgs boson—contains internal indications that it, too, may be just another step along the path toward uncovering the truly fundamental degrees of freedom.

BOSONIC STRING THEORY IN BACKGROUND FIELDS BY CANONICAL METHODS

We investigate classical dynamics of the bosonic string in the background metric, antisymmetric and dilaton fields. We use canonical methods to find Hamiltonian in terms of energy–momentum tensor

Dirac-Born-Infeld Action from Dirichlet Sigma Model

In a recent paper we discussed, among other things, the effect of duality transformations on the open bosonic string theory. Namely, we conjectured that a macroscopic object, the D-brane, effectively

D-branes and Deformation Quantization

In this note we explain how world-volume geometries of D-branes can be reconstructed within the microscopic framework where D-branes are described through boundary conformal field theory. We extract

TLDR
It is shown that by switching on a certain boundary interaction, conformal invariance is restored in a Dirichlet branes background and an immediate application is to two-dimensional string theory.
