DIGITALIS INTOXICATION The beneficial effects of digitalis are primarily due to an increase in ventricular efficiency and a decrease in the rate of ventricular contraction. There are, of course, other lesser advantages. Digitalis folia is less often prescribed now than formerly because of its comparatively slow action and very prolonged excretion time.
