Two different types of TNF receptors, the p60 receptor with a molecular mass of 60 kDa and the p80 receptor with a mass of 80 kDa, have been identified. TNF exhibits a wide variety of biologic actions, but which receptor is responsible for these biologic actions is not well characterized.
