To investigate the role of DNA strand breakage as the molecular lesion responsible for initiating genomic instability, five different strand-breaking agents, bleomycin, neocarzinostatin, hydrogen peroxide, restriction endonucleases, and ionizing radiation, were examined for their capacity to induce delayed chromosomal instability.
