An extraction technique is described for the separation of iron- and calcium-bound phosphate. The iron-bound phosphate is extracted with a 0.05 M solution of Ca-NTA under reducing conditions. Iron, also, is brought into solution, which is an advantage over the NaOH extraction. The calcium-bound phosphate is extracted with a 0.05 M solution of Na-NTA. The NTA also extracts humic compounds.
