Among the supporting cells, Deiters cells are in intimate contact with outer hair cells (OHCs) in the inner ear. The aim of this study was to characterize the outward rectifying K+ current of Deiters cells in conjunction with cellular morphological characteristics. In the majority of cells, the K+ current had a biphasic inactivation kinetics (τ 1 and τ 2 were 2,735±90 (n=77) and 160±14 ms (n=72), respectively).
