}The tetradecythioacetic acid (TTA) is a modified fatty acid known to exhibit pleiotropic effects. First, we compared the effect of TTA on the blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) with two-kidney, one-clip (2K1C)-hypertensive rats. Second, we examined mechanisms involved in the blood pressure reduction. TTA had minor effect on systolic blood pressure (SBP) in young SHR up to 8 wk of age. In 2K1C we confirmed the blood pressure-lowering effect of TTA (SBP: 173 +/- 4 before vs…

Results indicate that, after 6 wk of treatment, TTA downregulated the COX2 activity, which have potentially important effects on the regulation of renal hemodynamics but does not explain TTAs ability to lower BP.
The tetradecylthioacetic acid ( TTA ) prevents the inflammatory response in 2-kidney , 1-clip hypertension
- Biology, Medicine
- 2007
The results indicate that TTA has potent anti-inflammatory effect in 2K1C by inhibition of p50/p65 NF-kB subunits activation, by reduction of cytokines production and ROS, and enhanced NO production.

Prevention of Hypertension and Organ Damage in 2-Kidney, 1-Clip Rats by Tetradecylthioacetic Acid
- Medicine, BiologyHypertension
- 2006
TTA attenuated the development of hypertension, reduced established hypertension, and prevented theDevelopment of organ damage in 2K1C rats, possibly by reducing the amounts of the vasoconstrictors angiotensin II and 8-iso-prostaglandin F2&agr; and by inducing a favorable increase of oleic acid in serum.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition with quinapril (CI-906) and captopril in spontaneously hypertensive rats with suppressed renin-angiotensin system.

The results suggest that in SHR the acute blood pressure-lowering effect of ACE inhibitors is completely dependent on the renin-angiotensin system, and this system clearly participates in the support of rapidly increasing blood pressure in young SHR.
Influence of the status of the renin-angiotensin system on the effect of cilazapril on neointima formation after vascular injury in rats.
- Medicine, BiologyCirculation
- 1993
The status of the RAS has a major influence on the effect of cilazapril on neointima formation after vascular injury, and this effect had a marked preventive effect on neointedima formation in normotensive Rats, spontaneously hypertensive rats, and two-kidney, one-clip rats.
Young SHR express increased type 1 angiotensin II receptors in renal proximal tubule.
- Biology, MedicineAmerican journal of physiology. Renal physiology

Young, but not adult, SHR have increased expression of proximal tubule AT1R and that chronic l-DOPA or captopril treatment decreased the elevated At1R expression to control levels, providing further support for an important role of the RAS in the development of hypertension in SHR.

Renal angiotensin II receptor regulation in two-kidney, one clip hypertensive rats: effect of ACE inhibition.
- Biology, MedicineHypertension

In 2K1C rats, Ang II receptors on preglomerular vessels and glomeruli are regulated differentially during the development of hypertension and after ACE inhibition, suggesting that glomerular angiotensin II receptors are regulated by systemic plasma Ang II levels, whereas vascular Ang II receptor levels are not.

GFR autoregulation in outer, middle, and inner cortex was impaired in losartan-treated 10-and 40-week-old SHRs, which may indicate that a part of the dilatory capacity of preglomerular vessels has already been taken out by hypotensive treatment.

The data indicate that PIO has a direct vascular effect that appears to be mediated at least in part by inhibition of agonist-mediated calcium uptake by vascular smooth muscle, which may contribute to the blood pressure-lowering actions of PIO in vivo.
