Aromatase or cytochrome P450 (CYP19) enzyme catalyzes the rate-determining reaction in estrogen synthesis. Inhibiting aromatase is a major strategy in treating breast cancer patients. However, suppression on the transcriptional activity may be equally important in controlling aromatase.
