ABSTRACT We studied diet composition and overlap of the exotic noodlefish (Neosalanx taihuensis) and the endemic fish Anabarilius grahami in a deep, oligotrophic lake in the Yunnan Plateau. A. grahami dominated the fish community in Lake Fuxian before the invasion of N. taihuensis in 1982, but it is now in the process of extinction, corresponding with an explosive increase in N. taihuensis population. Schoener's index (α=0.773) indicate that N. taihuensis and A. grahami have significant diet…
Reduced growth and reproductive investment of Hemiculter leucisculus (Cyprinidae) in a reservoir with introduced icefish Neosalanx taihuensis (Salangidae)
TLDR
It is suggested that reduced growth and reproductive investment by H. leucisculus in HSR are likely the result of N. taihuensis introduction, which has induced decline and extinction of native fish species in some waters.
Diet overlap between the newly introduced Lamprichthys tanganicanus and the Tanganyika sardine in Lake Kivu, Eastern Africa
TLDR
A likelihood of interspecific competition between Lamprichthys tanganicanus and Limnothrissa miodon is suggested, particularly offshore, where mesozooplankton is the main available food type, and call for further monitoring of the sardine fishery, to assess a possible impact of the invader.

Restocking of Anabarilius grahami in Lake Fuxian, Southwest China: morphological and genetic effects
TLDR
Results showed that current hatchery-reared fish displayed a stubbier body shape than their wild conspecifics from the 1980s, and corresponding recommendations are discussed, including release size, feed formulations, breeding strategies, and release tags, to minimize potential risks and improve hatchery practices for better restocking of this species.
The phenotypic plasticity in Chinese populations of Daphnia similoides sinensis: recurvate helmeted forms are associated with the presence of predators
TLDR
The general phenotype of lake populations of D. similoides sinensis is strikingly similar to North American Daphnia retrocurva, an unrelated species of the subgenus Daphia, and it is presumed that similar predation pressures in lake habitats triggered convergent evolution of body shapes in both species.
Crustacean zooplankton communities in 13 lakes of Yunnan-Guizhou plateau: Relationship between crustacean zooplankton biomass or size structure and trophic indicators after invasion by exotic fish
TLDR
Between the 13 lakes, there was no significant relationship between cladocerans and chlorophyll a suggesting phytoplankton biomass was little controlled by macrozooplankton, and the positive correlation between chlorophyLL a and copepods sug- gested the high copepod biomass or size structure caused by the invasion of exotic planktivorous fish had a negative effect on water quality.
Comprehensive Transcriptional Changes in the Liver of Kanglang White Minnow (Anabarilius grahami) in Response to the Infection of Parasite Ichthyophthirius multifiliis
TLDR
This work reported the first comprehensive transcriptional changes in KWM in response to the exogenous infection of Ich, which would lay a solid foundation for in-depth studies on disease defense or resistant strains selection in this valuable fish.
Genome Assembly for a Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau “3E” Fish, Anabarilius grahami (Regan), and Its Evolutionary and Genetic Applications
TLDR
Interestingly, a further population demography of A. grahami uncovered a historical relationship between this fish and Fuxian Lake, suggesting that range expansion or shrinkage of the habitat has had a remarkable impact on the population size of endemic plateau fishes.
Variation in early growth of Neosalanx taihuensis between two populations above and below the Three Gorges Dam, China
TLDR
It is suggested that increased primary production and food availability following the impoundment of the TGR contributed importantly to the increased early growth and survival of the N. taihuensis population.

Diet of the zooplanktivorous icefish Neosalanx pseudotaihuensis Zhang
TLDR
The larger-sized fish showed a stronger preference for copepods, suggesting improved capture efficiency for evasive prey with increasing fish size, and the icefish did not show strong positive selection for Daphnia galeata, although it was a very important contributor to fish diet.
Fish Bulletin 152. Food Habits of Albacore, Bluefin Tuna, and Bonito In California Waters
TLDR
The study indicates the prominent forage for bluefin tuna, bonito, and albacore in California waters is the northern anchovy, Engraulis mordax.
Origin and Evolution of some Biological Characters of Anabarilius grahami As Referred To Geological Development of Fuxian Lake
TLDR
Interspecific differentiations in fecundities were resulted from adaptations to different geological developments of Fuxian and Xingyun Lakes.
The Biological Characters of Fishes of Fuxian Lake,Yunnan,With Comments of Their Adaptations to The Lacustrine Environments
TLDR
It is found that a series of common characters are shared by all or many species of fishes and these common characters can be further recognized as original or derived ones according to the principle of character analysis and resulted in the diverse extant fishes of Fuxian Lake.

Invasive Carp in China's Plateau Lakes
TLDR
The possible impacts of introduced bighead and silver carp on local fish communities urgently need to be assessed, especially in those waters (e.g., the Mississippi River) where the carp have successfully established reproducing populations.
Nonsynchronous Spatial Overlap of Lizards in Patchy Habitats
TLDR
The first observation may be related to the first in the following way: nonsynchronous spatial overlap could dictate relatively great resource overlap for species coinhabiting patchy or edge areas, requiring great differences between the species in prey size in addition to those in climatic habitat.
