Wahrend die Isolierung des Chlorophylls und die Trennung in seine beiden Komponenten ohne chemische Reaktion, namlich nur durch vorsichtige Anwendung von Losungsmitteln erfolgt, sind die krystallisierenden Alphylchlorophyllide und freien Chlorophyllide sowie ihre magnesiumfreien Verbindungen durch Umwandlung mittels einer Esterase von spezifischer Wirkung gewonnen worden, welche das Chlorophyll in den grunen Blattern begleitet und infolge ihrer Unloslichkeit nicht in die Extrakte ubergeht.
