Discovery of a new breeding population of the Vulnerable Swinhoe’s Rail Coturnicops exquisitus confirmed by genetic analysis
- Environmental ScienceBird Conservation International
- 2018
The genetic analyses unequivocally confirmed that swab samples and eggshell were attributable to Swinhoe’s Rail, thus constituting the first known breeding record of this species for 110 years and it is therefore likely that the individuals observed in the field also belonged to this species.
The great tit (Parus major) — a misclassified ring species
- Biology
- 2005
Taxonomic consequences suggest three separate species in the Parusmajor complex: Parus major s.s. (including the very closely related bokharensis sector), Parus minor and Parus cinereus.
The history of ranges of the great tit (Parus major) and Japanese tit (Parus minor) in the Amur Region
- HistoryBiology Bulletin
- 2011
It has been found that Komsomolsk-on-Amur is a new locality jointly inhabited by both species, independent of the main zone of their sympatry, and appeared very recently, at the turn of the 21st century.
Pleistocene climate changes shaped the divergence and demography of Asian populations of the great tit Parus major: evidence from phylogeographic analysis and ecological niche models
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 2012
The genetic and ecological results demonstrate that Pleistocene climate changes shaped the divergence and demography of P. major in China, and ENMs support this conclusion and predict a similar distribution in the present and the LGM.

A review of transition zones in biogeographical classification
- Environmental Science, Geography
- 2020
A revision of each transition zone will determine whether they are artificial areas, areas within their own right or potentially geographically overlapping temporally disjunct regions.
