Diazoxide (DIAZ), an opener of mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K(+) channels (mK(ATP)), protects neurons against hypoxic/ischemic stress in vivo, however, direct evidence showing mitochondrial effects of DIAZ in postischemic neurons is lacking.
