Diastereoselectivity in the Staudinger reaction of pentafluorosulfanylaldimines and ketimines

β-Lactams were diastereoselectively formed by the reaction of SF5-containing aldimines, or an SF5-containing ketimine, with benzyloxyketene in a conrotatory ring closure process.
