Churg-Strauss syndrome is a rare systemic vasculitis occurring in patients with asthma and blood eosinophilia. Lungs, skin, and nervous system are the most common sites of involvement, although many other organs are affected frequently. The diagnosis often is established from clinical findings or biopsy of extrapulmonary sites, and lung biopsy is performed infrequently. The classic pathologic findings in the lung include a combination of eosinophilic pneumonia, granulomatous inflammation, and…
Churg Strauss Syndrome: Clinical and Pathogenetic Approach to Therapy
TLDR
The Churg-Strauss syndrome is classified as a vasculitis of the small and medium sized arteries, which commonly involve the lung, the skin and the peripheral nerves and it is associated to ANCA in 40-60 percent (Sinico & Bottero 2009).
Parotid, breast, and fascial involvement in a patient who fulfilled the ACR criteria for Churg–Strauss syndrome
TLDR
A 68-year-old Caucasian man with a history of nasal polyposis and asthma who developed a salivary gland enlargement and eosinophilic fasciitis and mastitis and presented a painful chronic hard oedema of the left mammary region is reported.
Churg-Strauss angiitis.
Churg-Strauss syndrome with myopericardial involvement.
TLDR
A 38-year-old man with late-onset asthma, allergic rhinosinusitis, and high extravascular and peripheral blood eosinophilia, who presented with migratory pulmonary infiltrates and acute myopericarditis is described.
Churg-Strauss syndrome (Allergic Angiitis and Granulomatosis)
TLDR
A 25-year-old woman suffered from sinusitis, asthma and chronic cough intermittently for 1 year was admitted due to persistent worsening cough for 2-3 weeks and discharged under the diagnosis of Churg-Strauss syndrome in a stable condition and her follow-up CT scan showed almost complete remission.
Eosinophilic pneumonias
TLDR
The adjunction of immunosuppressants to corticosteroids is necessary in patients with CSS and poor prognosis factors, and Imatinib has recently proven effective in the treatment of the myeloproliferative variant of the HES.
Imaging of pulmonary vasculitis.
The presence of pulmonary vasculitis can be suggested by a clinical presentation that includes diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage, acute glomerulonephritis, chronic refractory sinusitis or rhinorrhea,
Eosinophil ic Lung Diseases
TLDR
Clinical features, general diagnostic workup, and management of the eosinophilic lung diseases, a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by an increased numbers of eos in 1 or more compartments of the lung, radiographic abnormalities, or impaired pulmonary function, are reviewed.
Respiratory system involvement in systemic vasculitides.
TLDR
The involvement of the respiratory system is a very common and important feature of AASV, whereas is less frequent in other SV, and comprises a wide spectrum of clinical features and radiological findings, and may have a prognostic significance.

Systemic Vasculitis with Asthma and Eosinophilia: A Clinical Approach to the Churg‐Strauss Syndrome
Drawing on our experience of 16 cases and a review of the English literature, we propose that CSS is under-diagnosed because of exclusive emphasis upon pathologic recognition of the disorder. The
Allergic granulomatosis (Churg‐Strauss syndrome): Pulmonary and renal morphologic findings
TLDR
The pulmonary histopathology of four cases of allergic granulomatosis (Churg-Strauss syndrome) was reviewed and tissue eosinophilia and a granuloma were demonstrated, in lung and renal tissue, without evidence of glomerulonephritis.
Allergic granulomatosis and angiitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome). Report and analysis of 30 cases.
TLDR
The clinical and morphologic findings of allergic granulomatosis and angiitis of Churg and Strauss in 21 men and 9 women were reviewed and Corticosteroids seem to influence long-term survival favorably.
Churg-Strauss syndrome. Development of cardiomyopathy during corticosteroid treatment.
TLDR
A patient with Churg-Strauss syndrome had pulmonary lesions, vasculitis, gastrointestinal tract involvement, and leukocytosis with hypereosinophilia treated with prednisone, with excellent resolution of his symptoms.
Eosinophilia in Wegener's granulomatosis.
TLDR
Eosinophilia, the differential diagnosis of pulmonary infiltrates and eosinophile, the role of cANCA in vasculitis and autoimmune disease, and possible pathogenic mechanisms are discussed.
Thoracic manifestation of Churg-Strauss syndrome: radiologic and clinical findings.
TLDR
The possibility of CSS should be raised in patients with a history of asthma and hypereosinophilia who present with thin-section CT findings of bilateral subpleural consolidation with lobular distribution, centrilobular nodules (especially within the ground-glass opacity) or multiple nodules, especially in association with bronchial wall thickening.
Acute eosinophilic pneumonia: histopathologic findings in nine patients.
TLDR
The presence of eos inophils in cases of acute respiratory insufficiency due to diffuse alveolar damage (DAD) should suggest the diagnostic possibility of acute eosinophilic pneumonia.
Churg-Strauss pulmonary vasculitis. High-resolution computed tomography scanning and pathologic findings.
TLDR
HRCT scanning demonstrated enlarged, irregular and stellate-shaped arteries, and small patchy opacities were present in the pulmonary parenchyma, which suggests that HRCT scans may be of value in the evaluation of pulmonary vasculitis because these findings are distinct from those of other diffuse lung lesions.
