The diagnosis of pudendal neuralgia by pudendal nerve entrapment syndrome is essentially clinical. There are no pathognomonic criteria, but various clinical features can be suggestive of the diagnosis. We defined criteria that can help to the diagnosis.
Recommendations on the management of pudendal nerve entrapment syndrome: A formalised expert consensus
TLDR
The aim of this work was to develop recommendations on the diagnosis and the management of PNE.
Selection criteria for surgical treatment of pudendal neuralgia
TLDR
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relevance of anesthetic test response to select patients for surgery, and whether this criterion can be used to predict its success.
The drug‐resistant pudendal neuralgia management: A systematic review
TLDR
A systematic review of the published treatments of PN in order to help physician to take their decision to treat PN.
[Mechanisms of formation and diagnosis of tunnel pudendal neuropathy].
TLDR
The author considers a set of the Nantes diagnostic criteria for pudendal neuralgia and presents a brief differential diagnosis of pelvic neuropathies and the causes of the low diagnosability of pUDendal neuropathy are analysed.
Pudendal Nerve Entrapment
TLDR
This chapter includes a review of the clinical presentation, anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnostic examination, differential diagnosis, and treatment of pudendal entrapment in patients with chronic pelvic pain.
Spinal cord stimulation of the conus medullaris for refractory pudendal neuralgia: A prospective study of 27 consecutive cases
TLDR
The objective was to describe the efficacy of spinal cord stimulation of the conus medullaris in patients with refractory pudendal neuralgia.
Pudendal Neuralgia Due to Pudendal Nerve Entrapment: Warning Signs Observed in Two Cases and Review of the Literature.
TLDR
The 2 cases described in this report illustrate the need to recognize atypical pudendal neuralgia and clarify the role of pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as MRI provides very valuable information for the evaluation of diseases involving the ischiorectal fossa.
Pudendal and Inferior Cluneal Nerve
TLDR
This chapter detailed the anatomy and sonoanatomy of the pudendal nerve at the interligamentous plane and the inferior cluneal nerves at the subgluteal region and the ultrasound-guided intervention technique.
Role of nerve block as a diagnostic tool in pudendal nerve entrapment
TLDR
This study aimed to determine if pudendal nerve blockade under general anaesthesia could diagnose and temporarily treat pudENDal nerve entrapment in patients suffering from chronic pelvic/perineal pain and/or organ dysfunction.
A new endoscopic minimal invasive approach for pudendal nerve and inferior cluneal nerve neurolysis: An anatomical study
To describe a new minimal invasive approach of the gluteal region which will permit to perform neurolysis of the pudendal and cluneal nerves in case of perineal neuralgia due to an entrapment of

TLDR
The location, character, and degree of pain caused by digital examination were confirmed by all of them to be similar to that which they experience at times of paroxysm and suggest that the pathogenesis of proctalgia fugax is neuralgia of the pudendal nerves.
[Neuralgia of the pudendal nerve. Anatomo-clinical considerations and therapeutical approach].
TLDR
The anatomic study of the pudendal nerve and its relation allows an approach of the mechanisms of compression likely to engender perineal neuralgia and the relation between the trunk of the nerve, its branches and these zones of conflict may explain the clinical observations.
Anorectal and perineal pain: new pathophysiological hypothesis
TLDR
A provocative interpretation of the role of psychological factors in anorectal and perineal pain is offered, and current concepts about these disorders and the approach to diagnosis and management are reviewed.
Pudendal neuralgia, a severe pain syndrome.
Anatomic basis of chronic perineal pain: role of the pudendal nerve
TLDR
Considering so-called idiopathic perineal pain as an entrapment syndrome, the clinical and neurophysiologic arguments and infiltration tests have led to define a surgical strategy which has currently given 70% of good results in 170 operated patients.
The internal obturator muscle may cause sciatic pain
Douleurs anopérinéales chroniques, diagnostic et stratégie d'exploration
Douleur périnéale et souffrance des nerfs honteux internes
TLDR
The constancy of symptoms among various patients, alterations revealed by electrophysiologic studies, pain relief by diagnostic blocks, data from anatomic studies, preliminary results of medical and surgical applied therapies, give consistent arguments for possible organic lesions of pudental nerves.
Piriformis syndrome: diagnosis, treatment, and outcome--a 10-year study.
TLDR
The FAIR test correlates well with a working definition of piriformis syndrome and is a better predictor of successful physical therapy and surgery than the working definition.
