Background: Neonatal sepsis is a serious life-threatening condition with high mortality. The early and accurate diagnosis of sepsis is one of main challenge for prevention of mortality due to sepsis in NICUs. A great effort to reduce the neonatal mortality rate is put into looking for new reliable biomarkers. Among various biomarkers, IL-6 could be promising and reliable biomarker for early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.
