PURPOSE Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a risk factor for open-angle glaucoma, although the mechanistic interrelationship of the two is debatable. The purpose of this study is to test whether DM augments neural apoptosis in rat retina with chronically elevated intraocular pressure (IOP).
