Diabetes mellitus is commonly associated with both microvascular and macrovascular complications (coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular events, severe peripheral vascular disease, nephropathy and retinopathy). There is wide evidence demonstrating that platelet degranulation and synthesis of TxA2 are increased in diabetic patients.
