Developmental changes in the distribution of acetylcholinesterase in the extrastriate visual cortex of the monkey.

Abstract

In the fetal and neonatal monkey, periodically organized regions of high activity of acetylcholinesterase were found in the visual cortical area V2 (Area 18). The acetylcholinesterase bands, like the thin and thick stripes of cytochrome oxidase, were found to run orthogonal to the area 17/18 border. During neonatal development these bands progressively… (More)
