The ultrastructural localization of mobilizable Ca2+ in different subcellular compartments of human oocytes and preimplantation embryos was studied using the potassium-pyroantimonate technique and transmission electron microscopy; the specificity was confirmed by chelation experiments and X-ray microanalysis.
