Children, as well as adults, should benefit from the discoveries of the genomic era. Many diseases with complex etiologies originate during childhood (e.g., asthma, autism, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, epilepsy and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) and persist into adulthood.
