The heat dissipation process caused by propagating fatigue crack in AISE 304 steel was studied. To calibrate the heat dissipation data and to implement the precise measurement of heat flow the infrared camera was combined with original measurement systems based on Pelteir element and potential drop technique. The developed experimental setup allows us to monitor the heat flow, heat sources distribution and crack length during the experiment. As a result of the study we have shown the linear…

A set of scaling laws has been developed for describing intermittent as well as continuous fatigue crack growth of large cracks in steels in the power-law regime. The proposed scaling laws are
Elastic-plastic transition in iron: Structural and thermodynamic features
The structural and thermodynamic features of the elastic-plastic transition in armco iron and its plastic deformation are studied. Energy storage in iron is shown to have a nonlinear character and be
Thermodynamics of translational crack layer propagation
AbstractRecognizing that fracture in many materials propagates as a crack preceded by intensive damage, a theory is presented to model the crack and the preceding damage as a single thermodynamic
Processing of temperature field in chemical microreactors with infrared thermography
This work is devoted to the first analysis of temperature fields related to chemical microfluidic reactors. The heat transport around and inside a microchannel is both convective and diffusive with
Energy considerations in fatigue crack propagation
The concept of Griffith fracture theory was extended to fatigue crack propagation problems by defining the Gibbs free energy of solids under cyclic loading. As a result, the rate of fatigue crack
