Progressive muscle weakness accompanied by progressive muscle atrophy was investigated in rats administered beta,beta'-iminodipropionitrile (IDPN) chronically in the drinking water. Spontaneous running wheel activity declined slowly and reached a constant low level before postural muscle weakness was apparent.
