Prorocentrum donghaiense Lu is a key harmful algal bloom (HAB) species which is widespread along the China Sea coast. In this study, P. donghaiense-specific antiserum was developed, and the detection method, based on immunofluorescence (IF), was optimized. The antiserum was raised using 0.5% paraformaldehyde-fixed whole cells (WC) as antigen. The titer and the specificity were examined using whole-cell IF.
