The Central Science Laboratory has developed a rapid, easy to use “bio-amplification ELISA” method for the detection and identification of quiescent Colletotrichum acutatum infection in strawberry plant material. We believe this is the first use of an ELISA system for the routine detection of an EC quarantine fungus. The detection system has been extensively used on imported and UK derived material and is currently under evaluation in other EC laboratories.
