Cell and tissue cultures of Catharanthus roseus have been studied extensively as an alternative strategy to improve the production of valuable secondary metabolites. The purpose of this study was to produce C. roseus callus and suspension cell biomass of good quality and quantity to improve the total alkaloids and bis-indole alkaloids. The young stem derived-callus of C. roseus variety Quang Ninh (QN) was grown on MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) plus…

Enhanced Alkaloid Production from Cell Culture System of Catharanthus roseus in Combined Effect of Nutrient Salts, Sucrose and Plant Growth Regulators
Callus and biomass culture of Catharanthus roseus L. were established to check for the presence of total alkaloid and its subsequent yield. Various treatments like strength of nutrient salts, sucrose
Factors Affecting Cell Biomass and Flavonoid Production of Ficus deltoidea var. kunstleri in Cell Suspension Culture System
TLDR
The study had established the optimum conditions for the production of total antioxidant and flavonoid content using DPPH and FRAP assays in cell suspension culture of F. deltoidea var.
Enhanced indole alkaloid production in suspension compact callus clusters of Catharanthus roseus: impacts of plant growth regulators and sucrose
TLDR
Morphological and anatomical studies showed that the globular compact callus cluster cultures consisted of many cohesive callus aggregates displaying some level of cellular/tissue differentiation, which was in agreement with the results from peroxidase and esterase isoenzyme pattern analysis.
Effects of stress factors, bioregulators, and synthetic precursors on indole alkaloid production in compact callus clusters cultures of Catharanthus roseus
TLDR
Additions of KCl, mannitol, and a variety of synthetic precursors and bioregulators to the CCC cultures markedly improved indole alkaloid production and release of these alkaloids into the medium.
Effects of endophytic fungus and its elicitors on cell status and alkaloid synthesis in cell suspension cultures of Catharanthus roseus
TLDR
The results showed when the pH rises, the concentration of MDA increases as the activities of antioxidative enzymes (peroxidase and catalase) rises, and the critical enzymes of alkaloid synthesis includephenylalanine ammonialyase and tryptophan decarboxylase in suspension cells were also found to increase, along with the alkaloid yield rises.
Effect of Aspergillus flavus Fungal Elicitor on the Production of Terpenoid Indole Alkaloids in Catharanthus roseus Cambial Meristematic Cells
TLDR
The results of qRT-PCR indicated that the increasing accumulations of vindoline, catharanthine, and ajmaline in C. roseus CMCs were correlated with the increasing expression of the above genes, which indicated that A. flavus fungal elicitor could enhance the TIA production of C.roseus C MCs, which might be used as an alternative biotechnological resource for obtaining bioactive alkaloids.
Aspergillus flavus fungus elicitation improves vincristine and vinblastine yield by augmenting callus biomass growth in Catharanthus roseus
TLDR
The study reveals increased yield of vinblastine and vincristine in cultivated tissues as a result of the influence of fungus elicitor Aspergillus flavus on alkaloid yield in Catharanthus roseus.
Influence of Fungal Elicitors on Production of Ajmalicine by Cell Cultures of Catharanthus roseus
TLDR
Suspension cultures of Catharanthus roseus were elicited with fungal cell wall fragments of Aspergillus niger, Fusarium moniliforme, and Trichoderma viride and investigated elicitors activity at different age of cell cultures.
