Abstract The drug development process is a carefully regulated, very expensive, long and complex process designed to bring safe and effective drugs to the market. The process begins with preclinical studies that identify and evaluate promising compounds that are then studied in a series of carefully regulated steps to bring the products from the laboratory to the clinic.
