Postpartum haemorrhage is a leading cause of maternal death worldwide. Oxytocin, currently the drug of choice for prevention of PPH, requires constant refrigeration. In pursuit of an alternative medicine, Ferring Pharmaceuticals have developed a heat-stable formulation of carbetocin, an oxytocin analogue.
