Development and application of data assimilation in regional scale atmospheric chemistry models

Abstract

In this chapter experiments with a statistical Interpolation algorithm applied in the DEOM model at<lb>NERI is described. The algorithm has been developed and optimized via nine different<lb>experiments where different model setups have been tested. The results from each experiment<lb>have been validated against measurements from the EMEP network. The best performing setup<lb>of the data assimilation algorithm has been found and will be used in the further application of the<lb>technique at NERI. The results will eventually be used in the THOR operational air pollution<lb>forecast system. The data assimilation technique used in this chapter is described in more detail<lb>in Frydendall, (2006); Frydendall and Brandt (2006) and Frydendall et al., (2007)
