Development and reproduction of the red grass spider, Florinda coccinea (Hentz), from South Carolina were studied under laboratory conditions (26 ± 2 °C) . Both males an d females required five molts to reach maturity, although 10% of the males had one supernumerary molt. Once mature, females lived approximately one month, or nearly twice a s long as males .
