Abstract Stampidine [2′,3′-didehydro-2′,3′-dideoxythymidine 5′-[p-bromophenyl methoxyalaninyl phosphate], a prodrug of stavudine (STV/d4T) with improved anti-HIV activity, is undergoing development as a novel nonspermicidal microbicide.
