An attempt to identify a Sporidesmium leads one to the realization that such an identification is at present impossible. Researches toward a monograph of the genus have made manifest that before such a compilation can be completed, a disposition of the plethora of genera implicated must be attempted. The genus Sporidesmium 2 as it is generally understood has ellipsoid, phaeodictyous conidia borne on simple conidiophores (and thereby distinguished from Stemphylium 3).
