A simple, reliable and reproducible method, based on capillary electrophoresis (CE) with electrochemical detection (ED), for the determination of five active ingredients and three carbohydrates in extracts of Gastrodia rhizoma is described in this work. The main active ingredients are gastrodin, 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol, vanillyl alcohol, 4-hydroxybenzylaldehyde and vanillin.
