Tannins are water soluble polyphenols. Tea leaves are abundant natural sources of polyphenols which get oxidized during processing to prepare the final products. Of the three main types of tea, black tea is produced by complete oxidation (fermentation) while oolong tea is semi-oxidized. Green tea production bypasses oxidation step. Tannins are antioxidant but at high concentration may act as antinutritional. In this study tannin content in various types of tea has been assessed by titrimetric…

COMPARISION OF TOTAL POLYPHENOLICS AND INVITRO RADICAL SCAVENGING ACTIVITY AMONG DIFFERENT BRANDS OF GREEN TEA

The aim of the research work is to determine total polyphenolic content present in different available brands of green tea and to evaluate their in-vitro radical scavenging activity by analytical

Response surface optimization of extraction parameters of green tea

Green tea is one of the most popular beverage in the world. Green tea (Camellia sinensis ) is a rich source of bioactive components so it has been used in traditional medicine. In the present study,

Tannin Concentration of Gyrinops Tea Taken Form Different Agarwood Plantation and Different Processing Method

Tannin is one of the essential components that determine the quality of herbal tea products. This research aims to conduct a quantitative tannin assay of Gyrinops tea with different leaf sampling

Application of Folin-Ciocalteau colorimetric method in the determination of total tannin in maize and soybean food products

Yellow maize (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) are local raw materials used in the formulation of complementary foods in Nigeria. The presence of antinutritional factors such as

Study of ultrasound and enzyme assisted extraction of tannins from mangosteen peel in Vietnam

In Viet Nam, mangosteen is grown mainly in the Southeastern and the Mekong Delta provinces (about 4,900 ha). The peel and un-ripened fruit accounts for 68-70 %, which is now almost are discarded.

Our Tea-Drinking Habits: Effects of Brewing Cycles and Infusion Time on Total Phenol Content and Antioxidants of Common Teas

ABSTRACT This study determined the total phenolic content (TPC) and antioxidant activities of common teas in response to our tea drinking habits. Selected green and black tea (Chinese black and green

The application of tannin extract from plants to reduce the concentration of arsenic.

This research prepared the tannins extract from agricultural wastes i.e. rice straw, tea leaves, longan leaves and banana leaves with fresh water for 2 months. The highest concentration of tannin was

Enriching nutritive value of tamarind seeds by Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation

Fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae in kernel flour for 12 hours is comparatively more effective than 24 hours to lower tannins content and improve nutritive value.

COMPARATIVE STUDIES ON THE ANTIOXIDANT POTENTIALS OF FOUR DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEA ; AN INSIGHT INTO A BETTER CHOICE OF HEALTHY BEVERAGE

The phytochemical constituents and in vitro antioxidant potentials of green, black, un-caffeinated, and herbal teas were evaluated and results compared. Green tea was found to be significantly (p <
