OBJECTIVE To determine the nitidine in different parts of Zanthoxylum nitidum (Roxb.) DC. METHODS HPLC method was used. The column was HYPERSIL BDS C18. The mobile phase was 0.02 mol/L monobasic potassium phosphate: acetonitrile (66:34). The detective wavelength was 328 nm. RESULTS The average recoveries and RSD for nitidine was 100.24%, 1.83% respectively. The root contained more nitidine than other parts. CONCLUSION The method can be used for the quality control of Zanthoxylum nitidum (Roxb.) DC. The roots were the best part for medicine.
