Mirtazapine is a new centrally acting noradrenergic and specific serotonin antidepressant, with an active demethyl metabolite. For toxicological purposes, a specific and accurate RP-HPLC assay was developed for the simultaneous plasma determination of these compounds. A linear response was observed over the concentration range 50-500 ng/ml.
