Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry has been used for the determination of contents of major and minor elements in Salvia aucheri var. canescens (sage) and its infusions for different intervals. Twenty-five elements (Al, B, Ba, Bi, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ga, Ln, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Pb, S, Sr, Ti,V, and Zn) were detected in both S. aucheri and its infusions. The ranges of mineral levels varied from Cd (1.6668 mg/kg) to K (13,570 mg/kg) and Ni (0.05273 mg/kg) to K (196… Expand
Determination of Minerals and Trace Elements of Some Salvia Species Distributed in Kırşehir
This study was conducted to determine the contents of some macro and micronutrients of Salvia spp. (Salvia aethiopis L., S. virgata Jacq., S. syriaca L., S. absconditiflora Montbret & Aucher exExpand
Determination and comparison of mineral elements in traditional Chinese herbal formulae at different decoction times used to improve kidney function--chemometric approach.
Traditional Chinese herbal formulae Liu wei di huang (LW) and Jin gui shen qi wan (JG) (kidney Qi pill from the golden cabinet) were analysed for Ca, Fe, Mg, Mn, Na, K and Zn at different decoction intervals by atomic absorption spectroscopy to understand the relation between the elements. Expand
Biochemical properties of some Salvia L. species
Antioxidant capacity, total phenol, mineral contents of aerial parts of sage belonging to some Salvia species, and P and Mg contents were found low compared with K and P values of plants. Expand
Evaluation of the Nutraceutical Potential of Rytidophyllum tomentosum (L.) Mart.: HPTLC Fingerprinting, Elemental Composition, Phenolic Content, and in vitro Antioxidant Activity
Rytidophyllum tomentosum (L.) Mart. (search-me-heart) is an aromatic Jamaican endemic herb traditionally consumed as a general tonic and for its medicinal properties. This present study evaluates theExpand
In vitro study of elements in herbal remedies
An in vitro dialysis system was applied to determine the element transfer from tea of the lyophilized sample to the plasma and it showed that the elements transferred between 6.90% and 90.05% through the membrane from teas to the Plasma. Expand
The Contamination of Essential and Non-Essential Heavy Metals In Edible Vegetables In The South of Ethiopia, Gamo Gofa Province
In this study, heavy metals pollution in edible vegetables was investigated from farms near Arba Minch south of Ethiopia. The most important heavy metals in vegetables are Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu),Expand
Multielement analysis of plant extracts with potential use in the treatment of peptic ulcers by synchrotron radiation total reflection X-ray fluorescence
Analysis of methanolic extracts of Alchornea glandulosa, Davilla elliptica and Davilla nitida suggests that the function of the extract is not only associated with providing the elements for restoring the gastric mucosa but that it also promotes the displacement of these elements from other parts of the mucosa to the damaged area. Expand
Understanding element composition of medicinal plants used in herbalism—A case study by analytical atomic spectrometry
Original researches devoted to element analysis of decoctions and infusions of medicinal plants and herbs, published after 2000, have been surveyed in details, particularly focusing on sources of elements in medicinal plants, their availability for the intake during preparation of infusions and decoction. Expand
Bioactivities and sensory evaluation of Pu-erh teas made from three tea leaves in an improved pile fermentation process.
The present studies revealed that the fresh tea leaves inoculated with the suitable microbes in short period of time will possess a high-quality tea infusion as long-term storage Pu-erh tea. Expand
A study of Salvia fruticosa Mill subsp. thomasii (Lacaita) Brullo, Guglielmo, Pavone & Terrasi, an endemic Sage of Southern Italy
The essential oil profile of Salvia thomasii (Southern Italy) is investigated and the relationship of this taxonomic unit to S. fruticosa s.l. is assessed to treat the Italian unit at subspecies level as Salvia Fruticosa Mill subsp. Expand
