Endogenous carbohydrate-binding sites were studied during rat cerebellar development on sections of fixed tissue using synthetic tools, biotinylated neoglycoproteins, in conjunction with subsequent avidinperoxidase staining. Neoglycoproteins were constructed by chemically coupling the histochemically pivotal carbohydrate moieties to an inert carrier protein.
