The complete genome sequence of a South African isolate of grapevine virus F (GVF) is presented. It was first detected by metagenomic next-generation sequencing of field samples and validated through direct Sanger sequencing. The genome sequence of GVF isolate V5 consists of 7539 nucleotides and contains a poly(A) tail. It has a typical vitivirus genome arrangement that comprises five open reading frames (ORFs), which share only 88.96 % nucleotide sequence identity with the existing complete…

Biological, epidemiological and population structure analyses of vitiviruses in Iran
TLDR
The neutrality analysis suggested that GVE and GVF in Iran and in the world were inferred from the old presence of GVB, through gene flow and positive selection pressures that shaped the genetic structure of vitivirus populations.
High-Throughput Sequencing Application in the Diagnosis and Discovery of Plant-Infecting Viruses in Africa, A Decade Later
TLDR
High-throughput sequencing application in the field of plant virology started in 2009 and has proven very successful for virus discovery and detection of viruses already known and novel ones from almost any host.
Virological and Immunological Outcomes of Coinfections
TLDR
Various virological mechanisms that determine viral persistence/exclusion during coinfections are discussed, and insights into the isolation/detection of multiple viruses are provided.

TLDR
A novel virus-like sequence from grapevine was identified by Illumina sequencing and was tentatively named grapevine virus F (GVF), which was most similar to those of vitiviruses.
DIRECTORY OF VIRUS AND VIRUS-LIKE DISEASES OF THE GRAPEVINE AND THEIR AGENTS
TLDR
The importance of the grapevine industry and the magnitude of the problems caused by these pathogens has generated wide interest which has fostered intensive research which has been especially active at the international scale from the late 1950’s onwards.
