The aim of this study was to determine if fluorescent PCR could be used instead of nested PCR, for the detection of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (M. paratuberculosis) in clinical specimens, to improve the sensitivity without increasing the risk for cross-contamination.
