We report the detection of dust emission at submillimeter wavelengths from HD 107146, a G2 V star with an age estimated to lie between 80 and 200 Myr. The emission is resolved at 450 μm with a size 300 AU × 210 AU. A fit to the spectral energy distribution gives a dust temperature of 51 K and a dust mass of 0.10 M⊕. No excess emission above the photosphere was detected at 18 μm, showing that there is very little warm dust and implying the presence of a large inner hole, at least 31 AU (~1'') in…

A gap in the planetesimal disc around HD 107146 and asymmetric warm dust emission revealed by ALMA

While detecting low-mass exoplanets at tens of au is beyond current instrumentation, debris discs provide a unique opportunity to study the outer regions of planetary systems. Here, we report new

We present resolved images of the dust continuum emission from the debris disk around the young (80–200 Myr) solar-type star HD 107146 with CARMA at λ = 1.3 mm and the CSO at λ = 350 μ. Both images

The Dust Properties of Eight Debris Disk Candidates as Determined by Submillimeter Photometry

The nature of far-infrared dust emission toward main-sequence stars, whether interstellar or circumstellar, can be deduced from submillimeter photometry. We present JCMT/SCUBA flux measurements at

A Submillimeter Search of Nearby Young Stars for Cold Dust: Discovery of Debris Disks around Two Low-Mass Stars

We present results from a James Clerk Maxwell Telescope/SCUBA 850 μm search for cold dust around eight nearby young stars belonging to the β Pic (t ≈ 12 Myr) and the Local Association (t ≈ 50 Myr)

We present 880 μm Submillimeter Array observations of the debris disks around the young solar analog HD 107146 and the multiple-planet host star HR 8799, at an angular resolution of 3″ and 6″,

An 850 μm Survey for Dust around Solar-Mass Stars

We present the results of an 850 μm JCMT/SCUBA survey for dust around 13 nearby solar-mass stars. The dust mass sensitivity ranged from 5 × 10-3 to 0.16 M⊕. Three sources were detected in the survey,

Structure in the ϵ Eridani Debris Disk

New submillimeter images have been obtained of the dust disk around the nearby K2 V star ϵ Eridani, with the total data set now spanning 5 yr. These images show the distribution of dusty debris

ALMA observations of the debris disk around the young Solar Analog HD 107146

We present the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) continuum observations at a wavelength of 1.25 mm of the debris disk surrounding the ∼100 Myr old solar analog HD 107146. The

An ALMA 1.3 millimeter Search for Debris Disks around Solar-type Stars in the Pleiades

Millimeter emission from debris disks around stars of different ages provides constraints on the collisional evolution of planetesimals. We present ALMA 1.3 millimeter observations of a sample of 76

Kuiper belts around nearby stars

Context. The existence of dusty debris disks around a large fraction of solar type main-sequence stars, inferred from excess far-IR and submillimetre emission compared to that expected from stellar

The Dust and Gas Content of a Disk around the Young Star HR 4796A

Abstract We have used the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii to search at submillimeter wavelengths for continuum emission from dust, and spectral line emission from carbon monoxide (CO) gas, in

A Dust Disk Surrounding the Young A Star HR 4796A

We report the codiscovery of the spatially resolved dust disk of the Vega-like star HR 4796A. Images of the thermal dust emission at λ=18 μm show an elongated structure approximately 200 AU in

Submillimeter Observations of an Asymmetric Dust Disk around Fomalhaut

New submillimeter images of the cold dust emission around the nearby main-sequence star Fomalhaut are presented. Observations at a wavelength of 450 μm, where the telescope beam size is equivalent to

Constraints on the evolution of remnant protostellar dust debris around HR 4796

We have obtained optical spectra and J, H, K, and 20 μm photometry of the components of HR 4796, whose component A (m V =5.8 mag) is a main-sequence A-type star with a large fractional infrared

A Dust Ring around epsilon Eridani: Analog to the Young Solar System

Dust emission around the nearby star ϵ Eridani has been imaged using a new submillimeter camera (the Submillimetre Common-User Bolometer Array at the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope). At an 850 μm

Mid-Infrared Imaging of a Circumstellar Disk around HR 4796: Mapping the Debris of Planetary Formation

We report the discovery of a circumstellar disk around the young A0 star HR 4796 in thermal infrared imaging carried out at the W. M. Keck Observatory. By fitting a model of the emission from a flat

The Circumstellar Disk of HD 141569 Imaged with NICMOS

Coronagraphic imaging with the Near-Infrared Camera and Multiobject Spectrometer on the Hubble Space Telescope reveals a large, ~400 AU (4'') radius, circumstellar disk around the Herbig Ae/Be star

SCUBA observations of dust around Lindroos stars: evidence for a substantial submillimetre disc population

We have observed 22 young stars from the Lindroos sample at 850 μm with SCUBA on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope to search for evidence of dust discs. Stars in this sample are the less massive

Submillimeter studies of main-sequence stars

JCMT maps of the 800-micron emission from Vega, Fomalhaut, and Beta Pictoris are interpreted to indicate that they are not ringed by large reservoirs of distant orbiting dust particles that are too

Detection of Extended Thermal Infrared Emission around the Vega-like Source HD 141569

The detection of extended IR emission at 10.8 and 18.2 µm around the Vega-like source HD 141569 shows that the mid-IR emission originates at smaller distances from the star than the scattered near-IR light, as also previously observed for the archetype Vega- like source beta Pictoris.
