Neuroendocrine cells are often disclosed in human gastric adenocarcinomas and may be recognised by their immunoreactivity towards chromogranin A. However, in dedifferentiated neuroendocrine tumour cells, the chromogranin A content may be reduced making it difficult to detect with conventional immunohistochemical methods.
