Seizure is a neurological disorder that occurs due to sudden electrical activity in the brain. A number of physiological signals can be used to detect seizure. This paper describes a wrist-based platform that uses a combination of physiological signals and other parameters such as irregular, uncoordinated motion for the detection of seizure. The proposed device is capable of constant evolution by updating of its algorithms, leading to a device capable of predicting seizures before their actual… Expand

Detection of seizure-like movements using a wrist accelerometer
TLDR
To determine if a wrist-worn motion detector could detect tonic-clonic seizures, individuals admitted for continuous video/EEG monitoring wore a wristwatch-size device that was programmed to detect rhythmic movements such as those that occur during Tonic-Clonic seizures. Expand
Non-EEG seizure-detection systems and potential SUDEP prevention: State of the art
TLDR
An overview of body signals that can be measured, along with corresponding methods, state-of-art research, and commercially available systems, as well as to stress the importance of a good detection system are provided. Expand
Non-EEG seizure detection systems and potential SUDEP prevention: State of the art Review and update
TLDR
It is convinced that the most effective seizure detection systems are multimodal, combining for example detection methods for movement and heart rate, and that devices should especially take into account the user's seizure types and personal preferences. Expand
Prospective Study of the Emfit Movement Monitor
TLDR
The Emfit movement monitor performed very well in comparison to previously tested devices, and the alarm was activated with 11 of the 13 generalized tonic-clonic seizures that occurred in sleeping children. Expand
Prospective Study of 2 Bed Alarms for Detection of Nocturnal Seizures
TLDR
The ability of the bed alarms to detect motor seizures in general and specific seizure types was tested and the Medpage seizure alarms do not appear to adequately detect nocturnal seizures. Expand
Assessment of a quasi-piezoelectric mattress monitor as a detection system for generalized convulsions
TLDR
The data suggest that the Emfit® detection device has a high predictive value for generalized convulsions, offers caregivers a reliable and early warning to assist the patient during convulsion, and may be a novel way to prevent SUDEP. Expand
Wrist-located pulse detection using IR signals, activity and nonlinear artifact cancellation
TLDR
Qualitative and quantitative performance evaluation of the performances on real signals clearly show that the proposed system gives an accurate estimation of the heart rate, even under intense physical activity. Expand
Ictal heart rate increase precedes EEG discharge in drug-resistant mesial temporal lobe seizures
TLDR
Analysis of the role of ictal HR changes in localizing both mesial and lateral temporal lobe epilepsy in a group of 68 patients suggests that the HR changes may be coupled to the functional impairment of neural circuits involved in sympathetic cardiovascular regulation, in the mesial temporal lobe structures. Expand
Cardiac arrhythmias in focal epilepsy: a prospective long-term study
TLDR
Clinical characteristics of patients with peri-ictal cardiac abnormalities are closely similar to those at greatest risk of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, which would have important implications for the investigation of similar patients and affect present cardiac-pacing policies. Expand
Electrocardiographic changes during electrographic seizures.
TLDR
It is concluded that ictal tachycardia is the rule during electrographic seizures, and that high-risk cardiac arrhythmias are uncommon. Expand
