The quantum marginal problem asks whether a set of given density matrices are consistent, i.e., whether they can be the reduced density matrices of a global quantum state. Not many nontrivial analytic necessary (or sufficient) conditions are known for the problem in general. We propose a method to detect consistency of overlapping quantum marginals by considering the separability of some derived states. Our method works well for the $k$-symmetric extension problem in general and for the general… Expand

Some Ulam's reconstruction problems for quantum states
Provided a complete set of putative $k$-body reductions of a multipartite quantum state, can one determine if a joint state exists? We derive necessary conditions for this to be true. In contrast toExpand
Limitations of Sum of Squares for 2-to-4 norm , Separability , and Entangled Games
We introduce a method for using reductions to construct integrality gaps for semidefinite programs (SDPs). These imply new limitations on the sum-of-squares (SoS) hierarchy in two settings whereExpand
Limitations of Semidefinite Programs for Separable States and Entangled Games
A new method for using reductions to construct integrality gaps for SDPs, meaning instances where the SDP value is far from the true optimum, is introduced, based on new limitations on the sum-of-squares (SoS) hierarchy in approximating two particularly important sets in quantum information theory. Construction of quantum states with special properties by projection methods
Using convex analysis, optimization techniques on matrix manifolds, and projection methods, algorithms to solve the problem of constructing global quantum states with prescribed reduced (marginal) states with special properties are obtained. Expand

Symmetric versus bosonic extension for bipartite states
A bipartite state $\rho^{AB}$ has a $k$-symmetric extension if there exists a $k+1$-partite state $\rho^{AB_1B_2\ldots B_k}$ with marginals $\rho^{AB_i}=\rho^{AB}, \forall i$. The $k$-symmetricExpand
